About Us

At Monkey Snott, our passion for firearms is the driving force behind everything we do. What began as a simple fix for a specific problem evolved into one of the most effective all-purpose firearm lubricants available today.

The story of Monkey Snott traces back to the early 2000s at the renowned Blackwater Training Center in Moyock, North Carolina. My dad, Eric Keller, started his journey in the armory there, eventually becoming a Master Armorer. Over the years, he earned nearly every armorer certification imaginable and developed a deep expertise in a wide range of weapon platforms. He traveled across the country, training others on how to properly maintain and assemble firearms, building a strong network within the industry — including with major companies like Bushmaster and Mossberg.

One of his proudest achievements was authoring the M4/M16 training manual still used at Blackwater today. He was also named a Subject Matter Expert on the MP5 system by the U.S. Department of State.

The origins of Monkey Snott go back to those very days in the Blackwater armory. During a hot summer week, a training group was running drills with the M249 SAW (Squad Automatic Weapon). The weapons kept seizing up due to a common problem: traditional oil was too thin, and grease was too thick. My dad, responsible for maintaining the guns, decided to experiment. Using what he had on hand, he created a custom blend — the first version of what would become Monkey Snott.

That night, he cleaned and treated the weapons with his new formula. The next day, the group trained all day without a single malfunction. In fact, the guns ran so smoothly, they had to dial down the gas systems. From that moment forward, Monkey Snott became his go-to solution for every firearm he touched.

Over time, he also discovered that Monkey Snott wasn’t just a superior lubricant — it offered exceptional protective properties as well. Whether in the scorching heat on a .50 cal or in freezing conditions where other products failed, Monkey Snott kept firearms running flawlessly. One memorable case involved a friend in Alaska, who ran a training business and struggled to keep his weapons operational in -40°F weather. After trying Monkey Snott, he was able to complete his training with zero malfunctions.

From the armory at Blackwater to extreme conditions across the country, Monkey Snott was born out of necessity — and proven through experience. Today, we carry that legacy forward by offering a product trusted by professionals, built on decades of real-world performance.
